18 Weeks

Pregnancy Highlights:
How far along - 18 Weeks
Size of Baby - Sweet Potato (about 5.6 inches & 6.7 ounces)
Development - The baby is yawning, hiccuping, sucking and swallowing.  He or she is rolling, kicking and punching too!  I don't feel it yet, but should really soon!
Weight Gain - I gained 1 pound, so that makes -1 pound.  I'm almost back to my start weight.  I hope this means I won't gain too much later.
Maternity Clothes - I'm wearing my regular clothes and maternity clothes.  I mostly love wearing tights/leggings with tunics.
Sleep -  I'm still sleeping pretty well.  I have been taking naps too since I've been on winter break.
Cravings - I'm still not really craving anything.  I enjoy most foods now, but feel I don't eat quite as much as I used too.
Miss Anything - Not really, especially the litter box!  I love that only Karson can do that job now!
Gender - We find out next week!!!
Symptoms - I'm feeling pretty good, but still tired.  Since I've been off work, I haven't had any sciatic nerve pain.  It must be standing on my feet and constantly bending over to help kids at work that does it.
Looking forward to - Finding out the gender and feeling the baby move!

Christmas 2014

My family went to the Gaylord about a week before Christmas.  It was really pretty there and the ice exhibit was pretty neat.  However, it was really crowded and we spent a lot of time waiting so I don't know if we will go again next year.

This angel and nativity was our favorite.  It was gorgeous!  It's hard to believe people actually hand carved it all out of ice!

We celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve at my Aunt and Uncle's house.  They always have it decorated so beautiful and we have amazing food too!  It is always great to get to spend time with all my cousins and their families and my Nanna too!  We are all so close!

This Christmas was extra special with a baby on the way.  I had fun taking Christmas belly shots and Karson was a good sport.  It was so exciting already opening gifts for our baby next year!  I know next Christmas will be even more special with our little one.

We had Karson's parents over Christmas Day.  We had a good time and ate Mexican food this year.  It was really good and might have to be our new tradition.  We forgot to take pictures, so I don't have any of us.

Merry Christmas!
I hope you enjoy this special time with your family and friends and celebrate the birth of our Savior!

13 Week Appointment

I had my 13 week appointment this afternoon.  They didn't do much, but I got to hear the heart beat and hear the baby kick!  It was really neat!  His/her heart beat was really fast, about 160 bpm. I hear that is normal for any baby; no signs if it is a boy or girl.  I go back again in a month and I will be 17 weeks.  However, the doctor said that's still a little early to determine the sex.  We will probably have to wait until I'm 19 weeks to find out.  I can't wait!  I really want to know!

Our little pumpkin

Introducing our little pumpkin...

We found out on October 2, 2014 we were pregnant.  We had been trying to get pregnant for a little over a year and were about to consider infertility testing but God had great plans for us!

How we found out:
I thought I had a bladder infection and had a really bad pain in my lower abdomen a couple weeks before we found out we were pregnant and I went to the doctor. They couldn't find anything wrong with me and asked me if I could be pregnant.  I told them maybe, but I didn't really think so because after seeing numerous negative pregnancy tests you start to think it won't happen.  Anyways, they took a urine test and it came back inconclusive.  It had a slight second line suggesting pregnancy, but not enough to confirm it.  Then they took a blood test and it came back negative.  I wasn't late yet, but should be starting anytime soon.  I guess it was too early.  About a week later I still hadn't started so I took a pregnancy test for the heck of it and it was negative.  Another week went by and I still hadn't started so I took a pregnancy test one morning and to our surprise, it was positive!  I didn't even know what to think. I hadn't seen that ever before!  As the day went on, I really felt like I had a bladder infection and was in a lot of pain.  I
ended up leaving work early and went to the doctor.  They
confirmed I had a bladder infection and I was pregnant!

I was so excited until the doctor came in.  See, I also had slight bleeding and the doctor then told me that I needed to go to the E.R. to make sure everything was okay.  He said it could be from the bladder infection but he wanted to make sure it wasn't the pregnancy.  So, then I went from being so joyful to crying and feeling scared and sad.  I called Karson and told him and he went with me to the E.R.  We then called our parents and told them the good and bad news so they could pray for us.

At the E.R. we had to wait in the waiting room for about 3 hours.  A funny side note, well it wasn't funny then but it is now, due to the bladder infection, I had to pee like every 10 minutes and I almost peed my pants running to the bathroom 2 times.  We finally made it in the room and they ended up taking a urine test, a blood test, gave me a pelvic exam, and did an ultrasound.  Another funny but no so funny thing that happened was during the ultrasound
(vaginal ultrasound mind you), the power went out and the
technician just held it there why the machine rebooted and we had to start over!  It was terrible but kind of funny now!  After all of that, they determined everything was okay and the bleeding was from the bladder infection. All they saw in the ultrasound was the gestational sac because I was only about 4 weeks along.  We ended up being there about 7 hours.  It wasn't horrible, but I don't wish to go again.

I had my first appointment on October 29, 2014.  I was a little nervous but was glad Karson was with me.  They took a lot of
blood and did and an ultrasound.  During the ultrasound, the baby
looked like it was waving. It was so cute!  The doctor said I was about 9 weeks and everything looked good.  She said that baby looked good and it had a strong heart beat.  We were thrilled!

Baby's first picture

During the 4 weeks I knew I was pregnant it was so hard to keep it a secret.  We told our close friends and even some friends from work. Of course all of our family knew too!  It was exciting to tell and that just meant more people were praying for us too!  After my appointment, we went ahead and told everyone and we even
made it Facebook official!

I have my next appointment November 26.  I will be about 13 weeks.  I can't wait to see how our little pumpkin is doing!  I will post pregnancy highlights soon too!
I forgot to mention my due date is June 1, 2015!
