Introducing our little pumpkin...
We found out on October 2, 2014 we were pregnant. We had been trying to get pregnant for a little over a year and were about to consider infertility testing but God had great plans for us!
How we found out:
I thought I had a bladder infection and had a really bad pain in my lower abdomen a couple weeks before we found out we were pregnant and I went to the doctor. They couldn't find anything wrong with me and asked me if I could be pregnant. I told them maybe, but I didn't really think so because after seeing numerous negative pregnancy tests you start to think it won't happen. Anyways, they took a urine test and it came back inconclusive. It had a slight second line suggesting pregnancy, but not enough to confirm it. Then they took a blood test and it came back negative. I wasn't late yet, but should be starting anytime soon. I guess it was too early. About a week later I still hadn't started so I took a pregnancy test for the heck of it and it was negative. Another week went by and I still hadn't started so I took a pregnancy test one morning and to our surprise, it was positive! I didn't even know what to think. I hadn't seen that ever before! As the day went on, I really felt like I had a bladder infection and was in a lot of pain. I
ended up leaving work early and went to the doctor. They
confirmed I had a bladder infection and I was pregnant!
I was so excited until the doctor came in. See, I also had slight bleeding and the doctor then told me that I needed to go to the E.R. to make sure everything was okay. He said it could be from the bladder infection but he wanted to make sure it wasn't the pregnancy. So, then I went from being so joyful to crying and feeling scared and sad. I called Karson and told him and he went with me to the E.R. We then called our parents and told them the good and bad news so they could pray for us.
At the E.R. we had to wait in the waiting room for about 3 hours. A funny side note, well it wasn't funny then but it is now, due to the bladder infection, I had to pee like every 10 minutes and I almost peed my pants running to the bathroom 2 times. We finally made it in the room and they ended up taking a urine test, a blood test, gave me a pelvic exam, and did an ultrasound. Another funny but no so funny thing that happened was during the ultrasound
(vaginal ultrasound mind you), the power went out and the
technician just held it there why the machine rebooted and we had to start over! It was terrible but kind of funny now! After all of that, they determined everything was okay and the bleeding was from the bladder infection. All they saw in the ultrasound was the gestational sac because I was only about 4 weeks along. We ended up being there about 7 hours. It wasn't horrible, but I don't wish to go again.
I had my first appointment on October 29, 2014. I was a little nervous but was glad Karson was with me. They took a lot of
blood and did and an ultrasound. During the ultrasound, the baby
looked like it was waving. It was so cute! The doctor said I was about 9 weeks and everything looked good. She said that baby looked good and it had a strong heart beat. We were thrilled!

During the 4 weeks I knew I was pregnant it was so hard to keep it a secret. We told our close friends and even some friends from work. Of course all of our family knew too! It was exciting to tell and that just meant more people were praying for us too! After my appointment, we went ahead and told everyone and we even
made it Facebook official!
I have my next appointment November 26. I will be about 13 weeks. I can't wait to see how our little pumpkin is doing! I will post pregnancy highlights soon too!
I forgot to mention my due date is June 1, 2015!
